The Village Square is a beautiful little spot in the heart of downtown (corner of Main & Alvarado) where you can rest under a tree, enjoy the gurgling sounds of the tiered fountain, or challenge a friend to a game of chess with the Village Square Chess Set. Events throughout the year are staged here -- including the Historic Downtown Merchant Association's kickoff to the holiday season: Joyful Traditions. The holiday festivities begin the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The Art Center at Fallbrook -- just across the street from the Village Square is the anchor of the art scene in downtown and features monthly shows -- along with the other downtown art galleries, the Art Campus at Fallbrook (an arts education venue), and the variety of Art in Public Places, there are many good reasons to visit if you are an art enthusiast. John Villani is including Fallbrook in the 5th edition of his book, "The 100 Best Art Towns in America."
